NZgamer has reported that EB Games in Australia and New Zealand may not be selling Resident Evil: Mercenaries for the Nintendo 3DS.
This is because Resident Evil: Mercenaries doesn’t allow owners of the game to delete any saved games. As a result, the game could impact second hand sales for the game as people won’t likely swap the game since they cannot get rid of the saved games for it.
Capcom could bear the brunt of the backlash since Vooks, has reported EB Games Australia does not want to sell the game as it would have “less value than a traditional game when used by a second owner”.
NZGamer contacted EB Games stores in New Zealand and they were not aware of the situation. However they said the game is not in their current database. Meaning there’s a good chance Resident Evil: Mercenaries won’t be sold in both EB Games stores in those countries.
EB Games relies heavily on pre-owned sales for its profits so its the only retail chain I believe that is doing this. The game is available at other retailers across both countries.
