WrestlingNewsSource.com has reported that it’s highly likely THQ will be dropping the “Smackdown vs. Raw” name from its video games from now on.
Rumors this week have suggested THQ was dropping the name and it’s expected the new name will announced tomorrow.
According to WrestlingNewsSource.com, the reason for the change is because “both WWE and THQ believe the title is no longer relevant as there is not legitimate brand rivalry in WWE anymore like there was when the series first began”.
It has been suggested that the series will now just be called “WWE 2012” much like EA does with its annual sports titles each year.
A Facebook page called “R.I.P WWE SmackDown Vs. RAW Video Game” has already been set-up.
