For anyone looking to downgrade the firmware on their PlayStation 3 it seems while it has been hacked you will have to wait a while longer yet. KaKaRoToKS has tweeted that the downgrade that he had previously used to downgrade a PS3 can’t be repeated.
This means that until a hack allowing downgrading of any PlayStation 3’s firmware is made a lot less PS3 owners will be able to easily hack the PS3 which for Sony is good news. The exact tweet from KaKaRoToKS is below and it seems he is already looking for another way so I doubt it will be too long before another possible firmware downgrade comes to light.
“sad news.. downgrade worked, but not reliable, only works with one of Xtse’s ps3s, but can’t reproduce it..I’m going to look for another way”

January 9, 2011 at 1:08 PMI don’t mind messing with firmware on handhelds… but there’s no way I’m touching my PS3 firmware.
The damn thing’s just too expensive to brick, and I’d hate to lose my PSN progress if I got banned. Just too risky.
