As the release date for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne fast approaching, Capcom revealed today the details for the upcoming beta that is set to start on Friday, August 30 through 11:59PDT on Monday, September 2 for PS4 players. For the Xbox One community, it will be available from 12:01AM PDT on Monday, September 2 through 11:59PM PDT on Wednesday, September 4. Players will be able to preload the game starting on August 28 before each beta period begins.
The pre-launch beta sessions that takes place for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne will come with frosty new challenges. Alongside the previously available Great Jagras (Beginner), Banbaro (Intermediate) and Tigrex (Expert) quests, players will be able to battle against the game’s mythical flagship monster Velkhana for the first time. Watch out though, this Elder Dragon’s icy breath is dangerous and offers a bone-chilling fight for even the fiercest of hunters.
In addition, players can test out all 14 weapon types in any of the four quests and the training area. The weapon include the new Iceborne features, plus the new Slinger tool options such as the Clutch Claw grapple mechanic.
For players who complete the quest for the first time, hunters can earn a total of four special commendation packs containing helpful consumable items that will be available to use in the full version of the expansion when it launches on September 6.
Please note that having the base game is not required to play the upcoming Iceborne expansion.
