While Skullgirls 2nd Encore released on July 7, 2015 for PlayStation 4, other consoles have been in something of a limbo. However, today it was revealed that Skullgirls 2nd Encore will release on Switch and Xbox One this summer.
Those excited to see how the game performs or possibly try it for the first time will have a chance at PAX East. There the Switch version will be on display and players can see how well the complex fighter performs. Just keep in mind, there is a high ceiling for skill and considering the game has been out for over three years, you might not be able to match or beat some more well versed players.
In addition to revealing the release window, Lab Zero Games announced a physical limited edition for the Switch version. It can be preordered at Skybound for $49.99, though it’s currently on sale for $47.49, and includes the game, a vinyl record and Switch controller skin. If you’re on the fence, keep in mind that preorders are only open until March 31 or until they run out of stock, whichever happens first, so I would suggest acting fast if you want it.
Finally, Lab Zero Games also released a new trailer for the upcoming Switch version. The trailer showcases the incredible depth players can find in Skullgirls. Every character is shown doing something impressive, from complicated combos to neat moves, giving players a fantastic idea of what the game is all about. It also shows some of the series fun side, along with talking about some of the basic features included in Skullgirls 2nd Encore. These would be the optional super boss, touch challenges, dual language support and, of course, story mode. It also includes all the previous DLC, meaning this is a full release and something you can buy with confidence.
