Detective Pikachu is a new game that is different from the many other Pokemon titles that have been released in the past. The ESRB has now rated the game giving us more details on what players can come to expect when it comes out later this year.
Detective Pikachu is appropriate for everyone meaning there are no restrictions to the age of anyone that wishes to play the 3DS video game. The content descriptors say the game features “Comic Mischief, Mild Cartoon Violence”.
The rating summary says: “This is an adventure game in which players help a young man (Tim) and Pikachu search for a missing character. As players progress through the story, they interact with characters, investigate scenes for evidence, and deduce various mysteries. Some interactions lead to sequences in which players match timed button presses to perform various actions: diffusing a time bomb, attacking enemies with electricity, avoiding enemy attacks (e.g., In one sequence, Tim gets struck with a poison needle during a Fail scenario.). The game contains mild instances of comic mischief and innuendo: a character belching a purple cloud of gas; Pikachu leaning over and making a heaving sound; dialogue such as “Calm down, everyone. No need to fight over me…There’s plenty of me to go around…”
Detective Pikachu will be released exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS console on March 23rd, 2018. If you like the game so much, you will be happy to know a live action movie is being released in May 2019. Ryan Reynolds is voicing the character of Pikachu in the Hollywood movie!
