Over the last few years the quality and quantity of indie games has continued to grow, with 2017 being no exception. There have been a whole host of incredible indie games making the choice extremely difficult. In the end the sheer originality of the setting and spookiness of Little Nightmare by Tarsier Studios took the golden crown.
It is not often that the puzzle-platformer and horror genres meet and it sounds like a recipe for a disaster. Somehow the developers cooked up an incredible combination that left all of us at Just Push Start wanting more for The Maw, and we got it in the form of DLC! For those unaware of this eerie gem, players take control of a hungry young girl called Six as she tries to escape The Maw. The Maw isn’t just a regular place with creatures roaming the unusual locations that make up the environments.
The journey through The Maw may be short but it is an experience not to be missed. The final instalment of the DLC has been confirmed to release early in 2018 so there is no better time to escape!

Tokyo 42 developed by SMAC Games combined beautiful artwork with unique camera angle controls to craft a 3D world like never before. The game snaps to 45-degree angles as players make their way around a futuristic Tokyo with a large variety of weapons. Who can say no to a katana?!
Bedtime Digital Games’ Figment took a quirky look at adventure style games with a surreal hand-drawn art style and an amazing use of music to bring the game to life. The game brings that warm comforting family feel into the genre in a perfect way.
Snake Pass, from British independent developer, took a bright vibrant approach to puzzle games with more than loveable characters, Noodle and Doodle. Visually the game looks somewhat like Yooka-Laylee so captures that cartoony nature while managing to pack in a huge amount of challenge via physics based puzzles.
