Microsoft has revealed that developers are not limited when it comes to choosing the frame rate and fidelity for their games that are put onto the Xbox Scorpio console.
Microsoft’s Mike Ybarra mentioned on Twitter: “Developers are free to choose how they use the power of Project Scorpio for games. We have no requirements limiting framerate or fidelity.”
Ybarra made these comments in response to the fact that Bungie says Destiny 2 is capped at 30fps on consoles despite the Xbox Scorpio and PS4 Pro capable of handling more.
One twitter user suggested that the 2013 Xbox One console might be holding the Scoprio back to make things fairer on all games. Ybarra clarified with: “No, there isn’t. This is up to the developer to choose, for their games, what they want to do.”
It’s hard to tell why Bungie is only limiting 30fps on Destiny 2 for consoles. 60fps or higher is possible if you choose to buy the PC version of the game instead.
