Earlier today, we learned that some GameStop stores are discontinuing the current line of Nintendo 3DS XL handhelds.
For the past few weeks, if you have tried to purchase a Nintendo 3DS XL from retailers including GameStop, there may have been some shortage of consoles in the ecosystem. Now GameStop has marked the majority of 3DS XL consoles as discontinued with no immediate news of restocking in the future. Not all models were discontinued it may seem, as both the basic black 3DS XL as well as the GameStop-exclusive NES controller themed console are available to be ordered in most locations. This leaves the other two staple colors of blue and red, as well as other limited edition consoles such as the Persona Q 3DS XL, nowhere to been seen at some locations.
While this does not immediately link to a possible announcement of the New Nintendo 3DS systems reaching North America quite yet, the evidence is surmounting rather quickly.
