Just the other day we told you about a partnership that Nintendo had made to bring a controller similar to the one used on GameCube that could be used on the Wii U to life. However, things have gotten even better now as they have also announced a GameCube controller adapter for the Wii U that will allow you to use actual GameCube controllers.
Nintendo took to their Twitter page to make this announcement earlier today by providing the above image within the following tweet:
Get excited! The #WiiU version of #SmashBros. will be playable with GameCube controllers.
The downside with the new controller announced the other day would have been that it is still wireless and therefore subject to lag on the Wii U in competitions, but this new adapter will allow you to plug the controller directly into the adapter. The question now is whether other games will be able to utilize this adapter and could it possibly even mean the bringing of a Gamecube Virtual Console to the Wii U soon?
