Even a week ago, you may not have even heard of Flappy Bird, but by now you’ve likely at least been introduced to the very recent phenomenon. Debuting only in the last few weeks, Flappy Bird is a free download on both the iOS App Store and Google Play Store that became a nearly overnight sensation, mostly due to its addictive and difficult nature.
However, the creator of the game, Dong Nguyen, has announced that he is pulling the game from any of the only stores tomorrow, February 9, around noon EST based on his time estimates. Many speculated this might have to do with legal issues considering that the games looks an awful lot like Super Mario Bros. with the pipes and what looks to be a Cheep Cheep turned into a bird, as well as the physics from the underwater levels in the original games. Nguyen dismissed these thoughts on his Twitter page earlier today, while also saying he would not be selling it.
It is not anything related to legal issues. I just cannot keep it anymore.
I also don’t sell ‘Flappy Bird’, please don’t ask.
So if you want to have a chance to get Flappy Bird, you best download it tonight or very early tomorrow!
