Maxis Studio’s Patrick Buechner has announced that SimCity will soon have offline capabilities in a future update.
In a blog on the SimCity website, Patrick stated that “Offline is coming as a free download with Update 10 to all SimCity players. When we launch it, all of your previously downloaded content will be available to you anytime, anywhere, without the need for an internet connection”. In the so called Update 10, players can still play solo in Regions on their own, or in Multiplayer with people from around the world. What they are adding is a new Single Player Mode which allows players to play offline. He also emphasizes the modding capabilities now available to community modders as it won’t compromise the integrity of the online game. Patrick says that the build is in the late stages of wrapping up the development but no release date was stated.
