Throughout the history of digital downloads, there have always been titles that are removed after awhile due to various reasons, usually as a result of licensing deals ending. Now something has happened that has caused two Konami titles, X-Men and The Simpsons Arcade Game, to be removed from the PlayStation Network.
The removal of X-Men isn’t all that surprising considering it went up in mid-December 2010, so the licensing deal may have been only for three years. However, The Simpsons Arcade Game went up in February 2012, so a December removal seems strange.
While the games have been removed from PSN without warning, they still remain on the Xbox 360 Games Store. In fact, both are on sale through today for only $4.99. Konami has not responded to any questions yet about the removal, but expect more information in the coming days.
