In what may be some of the absolutely least surprising news ever to grace this site, it has been confirmed that Super Mario Bros. 3 is going to be coming to the Virtual Console for both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS in the near future. We reported that it was shown on the screen for the Virtual Console for both systems in a past Nintendo Direct, but now we have further confirmation through Nintendo’s website.
Two listings for Super Mario Bros. 3 popped up on Nintendo’s website recently, one for the Wii U and one for the Nintendo 3DS. Each one has the same description of the classic Mario title with a release date of TBD. Super Mario Bros. 3 is one of the most iconic titles in Nintendo history, so we all knew it was coming as some point, but this is the first official confirmation of it for both platforms.
Look for the release of the title on both the Wii U and 3DS in the near future. If you own the Wii Virtual Console version of the game, you will be able to upgrade to the Wii U version for only $1.50 upon release.
