Earlier this year in June, Sony Computer Entertainment president and CEO Jack Tretton stated the the highly anticipated The Last Guardian was “on hiatus” at this time. However, that news is now proving to be not true as Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida is saying that Tretton’s comments were misunderstood.
Hiatus, I never… It was Jack Tretton! He used that term, and I said no, hiatus is misleading. It was a hiatus in terms of releasing new information. The game has never stopped – the team has always been here. They’re going through the re-engineering of the game, so the team size is smaller, because it’s more engineering focused right now.
Yoshida also says that they are waiting for the right time to reintroduce The Last Guardian. The game was first announced at E3 2009 and has had hardly any information whatsoever since. Most would assume that the game has not been pushed back to PlayStation 4 with the last of information on it, but that hasn’t been officially confirmed.
