Warning! Challenger Approaching! Through the official Super Smash Bros. website, game director Masahiro Sakurai has announced the return of a fighter that first made an appearance in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but has ties to Super Smash Bros. Melee. That character is Toon Link, who unsurprisingly was announced between the digital and retail releases dates for The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD.
Young Link first made an appearance in Melee as a faster but weaker version of Link. Brawl built upon that by introducing Toon Link, who had a more specific moveset, but still somewhat played like a faster version of Link. This is why both Young Link and Toon Link have been my character of choice in Melee and Brawl respectively.
Some were worried that Toon Link may not be returning after a similar looking Spirit Tracks Link was seen in the background of a Spirit Tracks based level. However, Toon Link is from Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass, while Spirit Tracks Link is a completely different person.
