Since its launch in 2009 with Assassin’s Creed II, Ubisoft’s Uplay has gone through multiple changes. Ubisoft announced today the newest version 4.0 for PCs that will add live streaming through the use of Twitch.
Uplay was previously used for DRM checks on PC games it was a part of, but that feature was taken out later. Since the addition has mostly been used for in game achievements and networking. Just recently it was announced that Uplay will be coming to games on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 after it launches, so it is no surprise that the PC version in games will be getting an upgrade.
Uplay PC 4.0 offers an array of new features in high demand among the PC community. The integration of Twitch, the world’s leading video platform and community for gamers with more than 45 million unique visitors a month, enables members to broadcast their in-game videos and share some of their most memorable gaming achievements with friends.
The latest update will also include an upgrade to the download management that will allow patching of Ubisoft’s games much easier. There will also be a new social wall from the one used in past versions, but they gave no details about this change.
