With the Nintendo Direct focused on the upcoming Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, there is an abundance of news to coincide with the games’ upcoming release. In the Direct, Nintendo announced a companion app for the 3DS known as the Pokemon Bank, which will allow you to store your Pokemon in the cloud.
The games themselves have a limited number of boxes in which you can store your in-game Pokemon, whether obtained from that game or through trade. However, that will no longer be a problem with the new Pokemon Bank which will allow you to access 100 boxes, or 3000 Pokemon, but for an annual fee. The software will allow you to transfer Pokemon from Pokemon Black, Pokemon White, Pokemon Black 2, and Pokemon Black 2, by using the Poke Transporter.
The annual fee for now will be 500 yen, or nearly $5, when Pokemon Bank is released in Japan on December 25, as there will need to be constant maintenance on the service over time. A release date for the United States was not given at this time.
Pokemon X and Pokemon Y will be released worldwide for the Nintendo 3DS on October 12.
