As we all know, the release of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn last week was very overwhelming for Square Enix due to the unexpected influx of players logging in at the same time. In the plethora of servers they have at the moment, it’s almost impossible for everyone to log in due to the overwhelming support of the people. Yes, it is a good news indeed for the company but the many players who bought the game were somewhat disappointed since they were greeted with a dreaded “The World is Full” message instead of actually playing the game.
Starting tomorrow, Square Enix will finally remedy the problem and will add more servers by Wednesday at 3AM PDT. Naoki Yoshida released the following statement:
To ensure as many players as possible can log in and create characters on existing servers, our development and operations teams are monitoring server load and population around the clock, placing and removing restrictions with even the slightest fluctuation in numbers in order to maintain near-full capacity on each World. We are still experiencing maximum concurrent connection numbers of over 230,000 users. This number, however, has taxed some of our instance servers, and is causing unexpected down time here, as well.
The launch last week may not be the best one to those who can’t log in, but Square Enix has a plan already on how to compensate the players. As soon as the servers go back up again after the lenghty maintenance tomorrow, players will receive seven days of additional game time. The additional game time will also apply to the non-legacy players from version 1.0.
