Naughty Dog has been keeping The Last of Us’ multiplayer aspect a secret, but that changed today. The most we knew about this portion of the game came from pre-order bonuses, but that left us even more curious. Now, less than two weeks before the game’s launch, we have finally been given a glimpse of the multiplayer, which is titled “Factions”.
The Last of Us multiplayer modes come in two team-based, 4 against 4 flavors: Survivors and Supply Raid. Survivors offers only one life per player, forcing teams to work together to eliminate the other team and keep themselves supplied. Supply Raid is somewhat similar, but a larger pool of respawns are granted. Many of the single player features have found their way into the multiplayer, such as crafting and the listen mode, with the addition of a clan management system that seems somewhat similar to Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. Whether or not this mode has the potential to hold our attention in the long run remains to be seen. So, for now, you can enjoy and analyze the above gameplay video while we wait to hear more.
