With plenty of Switch users complaining on how their Joy-Con controllers are “drifting” after using it for several months, Nintendo seems to have found a way to please the customers and that’s by fixing it free of charge.
For those who haven’t experienced the “drifting” of the Joy-Con controllers, it’s an issue where the Switch’s detachable controllers causes it to detect input or drift, even when nothing is actually touching the analog stick. If for some reason, you are among those people who are experiencing it, you can now contact the Nintendo customer service to obtain a free repair, per report of Vice.
According to “a source familiar with Nintendo’s updated customer support documentation”, the Vice report says that the company’s internal documents now include the lines:
Customers will no longer be requested to provide proof of purchase for Joy-Con repairs. Additionally it is not necessary to confirm warranty status. If a customer requests a refund for a previously paid Joy-Con repair […] confirm the prior repair and then issue a refund.
Switch owners who have previously paid to have their Joy-Cons fix, it seems that Nintendo will refund those charges.
