2018 is behind us, but Sony has not forgotten what a huge year it was. The PS4 and Marvel’s Spider-Man reached monumental milestones.
As announced in a press release, Sony revealed that 91.6 million units of the PS4 console has been sold around the world as of December 31st, 2018. It should reach the 100 million unit mark by the end of 2019. So far the PS4 is the third best selling Sony console just behind the original PSOne and the PS2.
In terms of video games, Marvel’s Spider-Man was the best selling PS4 exclusive game out in 2018. The game managed to sell over 9 million units last year. You can read more in the highlights Sony posted below.
- PS4 has now cumulatively sold through more than 91.6 million units globally as of December 31, 2018.
- Within the above number, PS4 has sold through more than 5.6 million units globally during the 2018 holiday season
- More than 50.7 million PS4 games were sold through globally during the 2018 holiday season, which sums up to 876 million PS4 games cumulatively sold through worldwide as of December 31, 2018.
- Marvel’s Spider-Man, launched in September 2018, has cumulatively sold through more than 9 million copies worldwide as of November 25, 2018.
