Square Enix released today the first of the last two patches that will be released for Final Fantasy XIV prior to Shadowbringers expansion.
Patch 4.5 brings a plethora of new updates for subscribers of Final Fantasy XIV. The most highlighted feature for the patch is the inclusion of the Blue Mage job. For the first time ever, players will now be able to play as the Blue Mage job where they can inherit some of the monster skills and use it against them.
In addition, players will be able to see the soon-to-be-finished arc of the Stormblood expansion. The main scenario continues that will lead to the events of the upcoming Shadowbringers expansion that is set to release later this year.
As for the raid that features Final Fantasy Tactics cross-over, players will see the end of it in this patch as they make the last stop in the Orbonne Monastery. Fans will also be introduced to a new class that will later be available in the upcoming expansion- Viera, the rabbit-eared amazons that will be one of the new playable race in Shadowbringers.
Other contents that will be available in this new expansion are new dungeons, a new trial, new side stories, new PvP contents, and of course new quality of life contents that further improves the game.
Please note that there is one last patch that will be available that will ultimately conclude the Stormblood story arc. There’s currently no release date as to when it will be released but it’s expected to be around next month or March.
New players who just jumped-in playing Final Fantasy XIV will have to finish the Stormblood story-arc first and all of its main scenario quests from previous patches in order to play the new contents in Patch 4.5.
Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood is available now for PlayStation 4 and PC. Its upcoming expansion, Shadowbringers, will be available later this year.
