Jasco Games has recently launched the Street Fighter The Miniatures Game on the crowd-funding website Kickstarter, looking for $400,000 to make the game a reality.
Jasco Games are certainly being ambitious bringing the 30+ year old fighting franchise to tabletop. The game itself will feature over 400 cards, even without hitting any Stretch Goals, of which the team has 12 fighter miniature and battle deck combinations planned. The main wow factor certainly comes from the miniatures which are described as “individual “Collector Sized” pre-painted special FX’s miniatures that are comparable in size to Nintendo Amiibos”.
The board game doesn’t look like it is all style over substance though, and there is plenty of style. The game is for 2 – 6 players, approximately taking 15 minutes per player, which should give the game a good game length balance. The gameplay is simple but should allow for players to make impactful decisions, thus the game will grow with players. Players will draw cards, move then fight; where they can then perform 2 actions including move or draw again or play a card. When attacks are made players can choose to block or counter attack, with dice being utilized for blocking. Thankfully, there are ways to mitigate the dice rolls to reduce the impact of luck.
Throughout the Kickstarter campaign the team will be holding multiple livestreams for question and answer sessions, gameplay sessions and more. The first of these streams will take place on April 9th at 1PM Central, with the developers answering questions.
