Even though the fourth God of War game will be out next week, this has not stopped Sony Santa Monica from already thinking out the future of the franchise. There might be even more Kratos adventures in the near future based on a new interview.
Finder.com.au had a chance to interview Aaron Kaufman recently who is the senior online community strategist for Santa Monica. In the interview, Kaufman hinted that game director Cory Balrog is already thinking of the next adventure for the franchise.
Kaufman said the following about a next game: “Yeah, for sure. Not me personally, but I will say that Cory Barlog, who’s our creative director, has. When he came back to Santa Monica Studio a number of years ago, he didn’t come with an idea that was, “this will be the first and the only Kratos and Atreus adventure.” And while we’re not here today discussing what’s next for them or where we go or what that even looks like, I think any smart person or anyone with common sense would say, “I doubt Santa Monica Studio would put this much time and investment into introducing a new character and a new universe without thinking about the greater road map.” So we absolutely have ideas and thoughts on that.”
It sounds like Balrog wants to do more adventures starring Kratos and Atreus that will focus on Norse mythology. Obviously it’s way too early to talk about God of War 5 already, but it’s cool to know that this upcoming God of War game coming out next week is unlikely going to be the last game in the series.
