March 2018 was a decent month for all of the big three console manufacturers, although it was Sony’s PS4 that managed to come out on top. Overall though, the entire console industry is still booming as all three consoles sold decently last month.
As reported by VentureBeat, current hardware sales are outpacing 2017 thus far says The NPD Group. Hardware spending in the United States increased by 13 percent compared to the same period last year. The rise is all thanks to an uptick of Xbox One console sales primarily driven by the recently released Xbox One X console.
The PS4 though was the best selling console in March 2018 and is still the best selling console of 2018 to date. The Nintendo Switch is still selling quite well for itself with the Neon Red/Blue Joy-Con edition of the console being the most popular one to date.
It’s possible the Sony PS4 will win again for April 2018 thanks to the releases of both God of War and Yakuza 6 this month. In terms of software sales, Far Cry 5 sold the most copies in March 2018 followed closely by Sea of Thieves as second on the list and then Sony’s MLB The Show 18 in third place.
