It sounds like both Sony and Microsoft might be releasing their next consoles in the same year much like they did with the PS4 and Xbox One which both came out in the year of 2013. This means both next generation consoles will be out seven years after the previous consoles.
Gamingbolt had a chance to speak with Wedbush Securites analyst Michael Pachter and the famed gaming analyst thinks Microsoft won’t be releasing the next Xbox One in a different year to Sony’s PS5 consoles. According to him, we might see both consoles out in 2020 as 2019 is too early for either of them to come out.
Here’s what he said about his prediction: “You know, I think Microsoft could try isolated launches, but the Xbox One X pretty much process they’re not going to do that. It launched far too recently, so I don’t see a new Xbox launching in 2019, I don’t think so. And the thing is, both companies are pretty much aware of what the other guy is doing, so they’ll know if someone is working on a new console, and it’s coming. I think both the next Xbox and PS5 are 2020.”
Right now, it’s too early to release new consoles in 2018 or 2019 as the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X consoles just came out. 2020 seems like the year that we will see some new stuff!
