Right now, the Xbox One S and Xbox One X usually only supports resolutions of 1080p and 4K. Well now the two consoles might get a new resolution based on a recent preview update that is being sent out soon to some users.
Xbox’s Partner Group Program Manager, Kevin Gamill, hinted about this recently during a tweet he posted earlier this week. He said: “Many questions recently around the timing of our 1440p support. Those of you in our early preview ring should be pleasantly surprised very soon if you have an Xbox One S or Xbox One X.”
1440p is a good gap between both 1080p and 4K. It should make games look better than a normal 1080p setup as some monitors might support the resolution. That said, 4K is the maximum resolution and is best experienced if you have a 4K TV with HDR support.
For now, this update will only be available soon to those as part of the preview program. Usually when an update is released in preview, they are made available to all users later in the year.
We’ll give you more details when the official update releases for Xbox One S and Xbox One X sometime later this year.
