With Rockstar announcing that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be released worldwide on October 26th, 2018, this has made other game publishers a bit nervous as Fall 2018 is already going to be a stacked time period. A Marvel employee is hoping Spider-Man PS4 avoids October because the PS4 exclusive might not sell as many copies going up against Red Dead Redemption 2.
Marvel producer Stephen Wacker posted on his official Twitter account the following: “If the Spider-Man game and Red Dead come out near each other, I’m pretty sure I’m going to lose my job.”
This is not a full confirmation that Spider-Man PS4 will be released in October, but it puts pressure on Sony to try and release the game in a more quiet time of year. Fall 2018 will not only have Red Dead Redemption 2 because EA and Activision are likely going to release new iterations of Battlefield and Call of Duty too.
The game was supposed to be out in the first half of 2018 but that looks unlikely right now. This is because God of War PS4 has got the April 20th, 2018 release date. Hopefully the game is out in June or July instead because these months were successful for Crash Bandicoot last year.
