Even though Gran Turismo Sport only came out this past October, it sounds like Polyphony Digital is already planning the next video game in the franchise. Are we finally going to see a proper sequel called Gran Turismo 7 on the PS4 and PS4 Pro consoles?
Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi was interviewed by Japanese website GameWatch (via IGN), and he talked briefly about the future of the franchise. Despite not being able to talk much about the future, Polyphony Digital is already started working on a new a GT game.
Yamauchi said: “I can not talk about anything yet, but since the moment releasing GT [Sport], I have started making the next GT.”
He does not want to confirm if it will be Gran Turismo 7, although many fans of the franchise want to see a proper sequel released on PS4 and PS4 Pro. This is because Gran Turismo Sport was seen as a spinoff title offering less cars and not as many features as past GT video games.
That said, Polyphony Digital is slowly making GT Sport a better game offering owners of the game lots of free updates that include new cars, new tracks and more single player events for you to partake in.
GameWatch also asked Yamauchi if he is ever interested in making a sequel to Tourist Trophy. If you remember, Tourist Trophy was pretty much a GT game on PS2, but featured motorcycles instead of cars. He does not know if a sequel will be made, but he might just add motorcycles in the new GT instead although no official plans have been set in stone yet.
Anyway, GT Sport is Polyphony Digital’s main priority right now and the game promises to include even more free new and returning cars for you to download and play with.
