When the Xbox One console was announced over four years ago, it was revealed that a Halo TV show was in the works. After a long time of silence, apparently the project is still happening and has not been cancelled as initially feared.
TVGuide had a chance to interview Showtime President and CEO David Nevins about the status of the Halo TV show. He said that the show is still in “active development” and that he has even seen some scripts for the show already.
It is still a live action TV show and that it is progressing forward. Showtime also promises that the TV show will satisfy the fans which is a clue that it will remain true to the video games. After all, some video games movies/TV shows are terrible because they don’t follow the source material.
The TV show was announced back in 2013 and nothing has really happened yet. The same could be said about the Halo movie that was talked about over a decade ago. That film never materialized and District 9 was released in its place instead. As of right now, a movie based on the popular gaming franchise still looks like it’s dead in the water.
Microsoft relies on the Halo franchise to power its Xbox brand. Halo is the company’s most famous gaming franchise alongside the Forza and Gears of War franchises.
The last game to be released in the series was Halo Wars 2. Before that, we received Halo 5: Guardians in 2015 which was released for the Xbox One console.
There’s no word when Halo 6 is coming out, but it could be possible it will be out very soon. Halo 6 making use of the full power of the Xbox One X console could be an awesome sight to see.
