Recently on Twitter Devil May Cry creator, Hideki Kamiya, posted on his official Twitter account what he wishes to see happen in Devil May Cry 5. His words were misinterpreted by some as people thought he wanted the 5th game in the series to be more like the new God of War PS4 video game.
Kamiya’s original tweets said: “I’m just throwing some ideas out there, but I think it’s about time DMC got a game design revision. Looking at current global trends and the amazing graphics in recent Capcom games, the next DMC game could do with a full model change, like the new God of War. Instead of being an anime-style hack ‘n’ slash, maybe Capcom will turn DMC5 into a realistic, cinematic action game...”
Despite name dropping the new God of War video game, he confirms in another tweet that his words were taken out of context. After seeing a headline saying DmC 5 could be more like GoW PS4, he said on Twitter “What the f**k are those guys talking? Are they nuts?”
He probably just means he wants the series to change its direction. That said, the franchise already went through a change when Ninja Theory were tasked to develop DmC: Devil May Cry back in 2013. The game looked and played much differently than the previous four games in the series.
Personally, I feel Devil May Cry 5 should stay to its roots as fans want to see the series return to its original glory. DmC: Devil May Cry was already a big change that fans resented. The fifth game should play like the original four games because if it changes too much, the series could get even more backlash that the series does not really need right now after a multiyear absence.
