The Auckland Armageddon Expo is New Zealand’s biggest comic-con like event. Usually gaming has a huge presence, but this year Xbox NZ has decided to skip the event.
Culture Jam reached out to Xbox New Zealand and they said: “To showcase the power of the Xbox One X Microsoft is planning a dedicated launch event for Xbox fans nearer the New Zealand launch on November 7. There will be Xbox One S consoles and games on display at various booths during Armageddon, however“.
You have to remember setting up booths for conventions can be pretty expensive. Xbox NZ has decided to do its own event closer to the November 7th, launch for the new console.
This makes sense since the Auckland Armageddon Expo happens two weeks earlier than November 7th. Doing two events could be costly. Other vendors are expected to attend such as Sony, Nintendo and more.
