Welcome to Crowdfunding Corner. This time around we have three on-going projects to highlight for you across video games and board games. These represent projects which have personally got me interested and from the backer numbers, and pledge totals, a lot of others too!
The first campaign to highlight must be Zombicide: Green Horde. Within the first 24 hours this board game was not only over 450% fully funded it has raised $1.4 million dollars. This is a figure which is only rising and with 27 days left for the project to run plenty of stretch goals are bound to be smashed. Zombicide: Green Horde is the second core box for the medieval series of zombie survival board games. For an idea of what the game will offer check out Just Push Start’s recent review of Zombicide: Black Plague, the first medieval core box.
Ashes of Creation is a brand-new MMORPG by Intrepid Studios. Aiming to change the face of the MMORPG genre, the game will be offer players an “open-world, non-faction based, no P2W, high-fantasy” experience. Ashes of Creation has smashed its original funding goal of $750,000 and is currently sat at $2,785,000! Whether it is going to be the “rebirth” of MMORPGs that it thinks it will be the project certainly shows a lot of promise.
Hand of Fate: Ordeals is a pretty obvious choice as far as board game adaptations from video games go. Defiant Development’s action RPG series, has raised over $190,000 on Kickstarter making it, still with three weeks to go, the most-funded Australian tabletop game in Kickstarter history. Bringing the dungeon-crawling and deck-building mechanics from the video game to real-life Hand of Fate: Ordeals will bridge the story gap between the original game and the sequel.
