If you own Persona 5, you’ll know that there are a lot of restrictions when it comes to streaming the game. Well it appears Square Enix is not a fan of this method.
Square Enix CEO, Yosuke Matsuda, was recently interviewed by Nikkei and the topic of game streaming came up. A user on NeoGAF paraphrased what he had to say. His comments can be seen below.
“When a user shares gameplay videos, it generates buzz, resulting in extra attention for the game. this exposure is important for selling games“.
This is the opposite approach that Atlus is taking with Persona 5. In Persona 5, the PS4’s Share button is disabled and streamers are not allowed to post footage of the latter half of the game or else they risk penalties on their channels.
Hopefully Atlus lifts these restrictions. Sometimes posting footage of games is helpful for things like video guides and more. Not to mention it’s free advertising for the game.
