The art director for Final Fantasy XV, Isamu Kamikokuryo, has announced that he is leaving Square Enix in order to pursuit other adventures. He had been in the company since 1999.
Kamikokuryo announced his retirement to the company via Twitter. DualShockers provided the translations. He said: “Yesterday, I left Square Enix as of March 31st. Since I joined in 1999, it has been a little over eighteen years. It was a wonderful experience going from concept artist on Final Fantasy X until Final Fantasy XV. I am grateful to the company for the opportunity to encounter so many talented people.”
The man has worked on the likes of Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XII, the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy as well as the aforementioned Final Fantasy XV.
Whatever he does in the future, hopefully he’s happy. Square Enix is likely to get a new person to fill in to work on future titles. Due to the success of XV, a sixteenth main entry Final Fantasy game is being considered by Square Enix.
