Microsoft has announced several new games that are now Xbox One backwards compatible. One of these games include Capcom’s Street Fighter IV.
Major Nelson posted the following on his Twitter page: “STREET FIGHTER IV, Luxor 2, Poker Smash & Madballs Babo:Invasion are coming to Xbox One Backward Compatibility today”.
The interesting and disappointing thing to note is that only the vanilla version of Street Fighter IV works on the Xbox One. This is the original release of the game that came out in 2009.
If you didn’t know, Capcom re-released the game multiple times with Super SF IV, Arcade Edition and Ultra SF IV. Those versions are not backwards compatible which is disappointing because those versions of the game feature additional characters, stages and more.
Hopefully in the coming weeks all versions of the game will be compatible. There’s hardly any hardcore SF fan that still plays the vanilla version of the game.
