Quake Champions is a unique game as it will offer players to play the game for free. You can also pay for the game for more characters.
Quake Champions’ creative director, Tim Willits, revealed this news over the weekend during an interview with Polygon. Both free to play and pay to play versions of the game will be available.
He said that there is the option for players to buy the full game so that they can have instant access to all of the characters. This is called the “Champion Pack” and is great for those that want everything all in one-go.
He then said that they want as many people to play the game as possible so that’s why a free to play option is available. The only difference is that you only have access to the one Ranger character.
To play as other characters, free to play gamers can use in-game currency to unlock them for a limited time. Willits didn’t want to use the word “renting” but that’s basically what it is.
Both pay to play and free to play gamers of Quake Champions will have the same number of maps and compete in the same brackets. Basically, they’re doing everything to make the population of the game both high and happy.
