The Nintendo Switch is out, but some people are wondering why Switch games are more expensive than ones releases for the Xbox One and PS4. There is a development reason for this and it’s due to the cartridges.
Eurogamer reports that they have heard from a few sources that it costs more to produce Nintendo Switch cartridges than it does to make PS4 and Xbox One game on Blu-ray discs. That’s why games are usually around $10 more expensive.
Eurogamer also says that the higher the GB, the more expensive it is. For example, making a 32GB cartridge is going to cost more to make compared to a 16GB cartridge and so on.
The report also says that many smaller developers and publishers are likely to just release their games digitally in order to cut down costs. The next time you see a Switch game being quite expensive, sadly it’s due to the cartridges that are being used.
