Mad Catz officially announced today that it has “made a voluntary assignment in bankruptcy on March 30, 2017“. Basically this means the end is near for the company.
Mad Catz is/was a third party developer making hardware accessories such as Rock Band instruments, controllers and arcade fight sticks. Sadly, the company has stumbled over the last couple of years.
Its biggest problem was investing so many money into Rock Band 4. Not many people bought Rock Band 4 which meant a lot of bundles were left unsold. Its last big effort was revealing some fightsticks for Tekken 7.
A source has told Kotaku that the end of the company had been seen for a while now. The source said most of the Tekken 7 fightsticks have just been reskins of older hardware. A lot of debt had been mounting up over the years and a lot of cash had been spent. The source also said some employees can no longer access their work emails and have been sent home.
