Gearbox Software is in the middle of making Borderlands 3 and the developer has now shown off a cool tech demo for the game at GDC 2017. The game will be utilizing Unreal Engine 4.
Randy Pitchford came out on stage to show how Borderlands 3 would look like in Unreal Engine 4. Even though the game is still in 2D and uses cel-shading, the game is looking great so far compared to the last generation versions.
The video below talks about a lot of technical details on game development, but it’s still cool to watch. Aside from looking at the environment and objects, we also get to see what a character might look like in the game.
There’s still no release date for Borderlands 3, but it will be out in the near future. The game is likely to put Gearbox Software back on track since Battleborn was sadly forgotten by most people when it came out last year.
It’s worth mentioning this is only a tech demo and the things you see in the video below may not make it into the actual game itself. Still, it shows us the quality of the graphics the new game should have.
