Watch Dogs 2 didn’t have the stellar launch that the first game received back in 2014, but positive word of mouth eventually allowed the game’s sales to increase healthily.
Ubisoft announced the reaction to Watch Dogs 2 during its financial briefing report earlier this week. CEO Yves Guillemot admitted that the game’s sales were “soft” at launch.
However, good word of mouth spread for the game with sales increasing to a decent amount. Ubisoft is “happy” with the end result. No exact number was given, but it was mentioned the game outperformed Assassin’s Creed Syndicate which came out back in November 2015.
The reason the sequel to Watch Dogs didn’t sell well at the beginning was because people were waiting to see if it was good. The first game had mixed reviews and many people were disappointed by it. The sequel is better and people knew this after reading reviews or watching gameplay videos.
