For a while now Nintendo consoles have been labelled as having no third party support, however it sounds like the Nintendo Switch console won’t have that problem.
While a handful of third party games have been announced for the Nintendo Switch so far, more games are yet to be revealed according to Nintendo’s Yoshiaki Koizumi.
Koizuni said a lot about third party support during an interview with The Telegraph. He said that the company has been putting a “lot of energy into making third-party cooperation possible“. They have also paid more attention to this since a lot of third parties decided not to release games on the Wii U. He then said a lot more third party video games are left to be announced.
He also said elsewhere in the interview that they are creating a development environment that is making it better for third parties. Support for game engines such as Unreal Engine 4 and Unity have made it more comfortable for them. It appears as if both AAA and indie developers are finding it easy to develop for the Switch.
The Nintendo Switch will be released worldwide on March 3rd, 2017 for a recommended price of $299. Launch games include The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and 1-2-Switch.
