Capcom is truly on to a winner as Resident Evil 7 has shipped over 7 million copies worldwide. This goes to show us that fans really love the survival horror genre.
Capcom announced the feat via a press release. Shipment units include copies of the game on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. This is an impressive feat since the game came out less than a month ago.
As of February 10th, 2017, the Resident Evil series as a whole has shipped over 76 million copies worldwide. It has become one of Capcom’s most lucrative franchises.
This is good news for Resident Evil fans going forward. This means the series is likely to retain the survival horror aspect which was lost when Resident Evil 5 and 6 came out. Those two games were more action-orientated and this left a sour taste to fans of the older games in the series.
