The Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be more than just a visual upgrade of the original PSOne classic. It will be different as noted by the game’s director Tetsuya Nomura.
Tetsuya Nomura was interviewed by Final Fantasy Dream (via KH13.com) where he talked a little bit about how Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be different from the original.
He said: “Concerning Final Fantasy VII Remake, which is a title loaded with a lot of mystery for now, it will be different from the original Final Fantasy VII. A lot of things will change, but the essence of the universe will not. That is one of the things that will remain intact.”
We already know that the combat system is different, although it will be interesting to see if any story elements or missions have been changed.
They also asked Nomura if we would see a Final Fantasy 7 compilation that includes Before Crisis, Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus in the near future. Nomura said: “If we make a compilation, these games will hardly have an overall coherence. It will be difficult because there is no more continuity between the Compilation and the Remake for the moment.”
There’s still no release date for the first part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake but people are hoping it’s out later this year. 2017 does mark the 20th anniversary of the first game after all.
