The last week of 2016 has come to an end with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare being the top seller over in the UK.
GFK reports that Activision’s Infinite Warfare has been the number one game now for four consecutive weeks. The Holiday season was dominated by the Call of Duty franchise.
There was not much movement in the charts as FIFA 17 remained in second place with Battlefield 1 taking the third position.
What is surprising is how many copies Grand Theft Auto V is still being sold. Despite not even releasing in 2016, the game was the fourth best selling game of last week.
The fifth best selling game was Watch Dogs 2. The sequel has sadly not sold as many copies as the original game, but word of mouth continues to spread. Reviews were better for the sequel thanks to a new main character and improved game mechanics.
Things will get more interesting in 2017. We will see the release of the Nintendo Switch console in March with Microsoft releasing the Xbox Scorpio console sometime in the latter end of the year.
