Capcom is pretty ambitious and is hoping to sell 4 million copies of Resident Evil 7 on launch day. Can a game like Resident Evil achieve this?
During an interview with MCV, Capcom’s Antoine Molant said: “Ideally, we’d love to sell 4m on Day One globally. That would be great. Looking at what we see in the pre-orders and trends these days, we’re pretty confident we are going to get there. All the signs that we have seen across the market, whether it’s from the UK or from other territories, are very positive so far. We’re not sitting back and relaxing at all because we want to push that. The confidence is there”
To put this into perspective, Resident Evil 6 has lifetime sales of 6.5 million copies. Resident Evil 5 remains the best selling game of the franchise with 7 million copies sold worldwide.
For Resident Evil 7 to sell 4 million copies in one day is kind of a bold prediction.
