When Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 were announced to be out at the same time, EA said not to worry about it. Now that both games are out, sales suggest the latter is tracking poorly. Even then, EA still denies that Battlefield 1 is making a dent on sales.
As reported by Gamespot, EA CEO Andrew Wilson addressed the release date issue during the company’s recent earnings call. He said that both games are different and that they serve a purpose to varying fans. He did admit that there is an overlap though.
Wilson is wrong though because both are FPS games and people just want to shoot things no matter how it feels. Not to mention the UK sales are evident of this. The first Titanfall sold better than Titanfall 2. The former had a lack of content and was only released for PC, Xbox One and Xbox 360. The sequel adds a single player campaign and is out for PC, Xbox One and PS4 yet it had softer launch sales in the UK.
Next time, EA should re-think when it releases its games. Sometimes they release games at the same time, but they are different genres. Like Need for Speed and Star Wars Battlefront were out in the same month last year, but sales were great for both games.
