Even though the PlayStation VR is being sold at a pretty nice price of $399, Sony is still making a profit from that number. This could force competitors to drop their prices down.

Usually Sony sells hardware at a loss until production costs go down and then they can make a profit. It looks as if making the VR headset isn’t too much of a stretch for Sony so they can get a profit at launch.
It will be interesting to see if the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift goes down in price. Not many people have bought them because they cost too much for the consumer.
