Masayasu Ito, Head of Sony Computer Entertainment’s Home Game Console Business Division, has recently revealed that PlayStation VR may head to PC in the future.
Speaking with Nikkei, a Japanese technology website, Ito commented that while the headset will initially be only for the PlayStation 4, due to the internal parts being similar “there is a possibility” for it to be compatible with PCs, at a later date. The architecture of the PS4 can be seen to be the biggest similarity with both up-to-date PCs and the PlayStation 4 use an x86 architecture. Ito did reiterate that for now Sony are focused on developing for the PlayStation 4 but the potential in the future is there for Sony to enter the PC VR market.
